DAY 1 – TORTOLA, VIRGIN ISLANDS
Our adventure starts in the charismatic town of Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. Please be at the meeting point by 16:00 for a briefing and transfer to Klara.
We suggest you plan to arrive at least the day before so you can do some exploring before embarking on your sailing adventure. Tortola is well known for its white-sand beaches, including Cane Garden Bay and Smuggler’s Cove, a beautiful place to go snorkelling. Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, is situated on the horseshoe-shaped Road Harbour in the centre of the island's south coast. Located in the island's southwest, Sage Mountain National Park offers trails and sweeping views over neighbouring cays. Ancient ruins of historic settlements coexist with modern townships. Boasting in history we suggest you visit the 1780 Lower estate Sugar Works Museum, Fort Burt, Callwood’s Rum distillery to explore the Tortola’s rich past. A visit to the Callwood Rum Distillery will take you back in time. This distillery has been producing rum for over two hundred years, so you may want to do a tasting!
Meals: Dinner
DAY 2 – SALT ISLAND
Today, a visit to Salt Island is planned, named after the salt ponds that were once an important resource for the locals, it is worth exploring. It is said that back in the Queen Victoria reign it was a custom for the locals to send a pound of salt to the Queen on her birthday. The wreck of the RMS Rhone (the Royal Mail packet steamer) that sank when in 1867 a hurricane hit the region, is now known as one of the best scuba diving sites of the Caribbean. Whether you are scuba diving or taking a SUP out, it will make for an incredible experience.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
DAY 3 – VIRGIN GORDA
Today, we plan a visit to the Baths in Virgin Gorda, an iconic white sand beach specked by granite boulders matured for thousands of years. Trek through hidden tunnels, caves, float in the natural pools or snorkel in the reef systems hiding beneath the surface. Weather permitting a snorkel to the Wreck of the Chikuzen may provide a sight of colourful corals and sponge covered rocky formations atop of the ship, creating a wonderful marine tapestry.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
DAY 4 – VIRGIN GORDA – BEEF ISLAND AND SCRUB ISLAND
The highlight of today’s adventure is a visit to the Beef Island lagoon. Take a stand-up-paddle or kayak through the mangrove forests and you may see barracuda, baby sharks, stingrays, and turtles. Known as the “nurseries of the sea,” these mangrove forests are a refuge for juvenile marine life just learning to take care of oneself. We plan to snorkel in the shallows surrounding Scrub Island, as well as visiting nearby coves, bays, reefs, and inlets.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
DAY 5 - ANEGADA
Anegada is a coral island known for its secluded beaches such as Loblolly Bay and Cow Wreck Beach as well as wildlife. Flamingos, rock iguanas and rare plant species like sea lavender call the island their home. Birdwatching in Flamingo Pond and a visit to the Iguana Sanctuary will be enchanting. Snorkeling in Horseshoe Reef which is rich in marine life and shipwrecks will be one of the highlights.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
DAY 6 – TRELLIS BAY
Today we head to Trellis Bay for a day of leisure. Visit Aragorn’s Studio, an arts centre and shop, displaying the sculptures, woodcarvings, pottery, jewellery, and other crafts created by local artisans. Relax in the white sandy beach, which follows the curve of the bay and take a SUP to the middle of the bay to the tiny islet of Bellamy Cay – named after a famous pirate, Black Sam Bellamy. A coral reef surrounds the cay, providing shelter for an array of tropical fish species and giant starfish, great spot for snorkelling.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
DAY 7 – JOST VAN DYKE
Jost Van Dyke is one of the main islands in the British Virgin Islands, which are part of a volcanic archipelago in the Caribbean Sea, named after a Dutch privateer, it still possesses an abundance of history and charm. We will follow the footpaths of explorers and discover the ruins of sugar mills. Jost van Dyke’s rich melting-pot history has contributed to some of the Caribbean’s best dining experiences. A visit to the Bubbly Pool on the northeast shore is a must.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
